| The empty wagon is hauled a few yards and then halted in front of the winding house (the building to the left of the picture) to allow a cable to be attached to the rear. The donkey will then pull the wagon forward a few more yards to the top of the incline into the mine, where the winding engine takes over. Total length of operation - about 15 yards! |
