A Compass Tours excursion from Liverpool to Bath and Salisbury - pictured here on the return journey. 47812 developed a problem after this shot was taken and the two locomotives were switched around at Westbury to enable 47853 to lead for the remainder of the journey north. 47853 is in 'XP64' livery, the prototype of what was to become the BR corporate image scheme from the mid-1960s.
