Remarks & Notes
This is Reading M1sa #1705 - an Anthracite Road Mike. Note the huge Wooten Firebox, designed to ignite anthracite (and culm left over from coal processing ). It is named for inventor John E. Wooten, a 19th Century Philadelphia & Reading Superintendent. The first M1sa was built by Reading, while all the others came from Baldwin. (#1705 in 1913). Reportedly, all of the Reading Mikes were gone soon after this picture, retired by 1948.
