Remarks & Notes
The Empire Builder blasts through Emerado at 79mph leaving a cloud of snow in its wake. This train struck a vehicle 20 miles to the west; you can see the damage on the front truck and the scrape below the red line going aft. Fortunately no one was injured, but AMTK 23 lost its main resevoir pressure as it was pulling out of Grand Forks, most likely due to the collision.

This train, which runs between Chicago and Seattle and Portland, takes its name from James J. Hill, who founded the Great Northern Railroad and extended it from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast.
