Remarks & Notes
In a few minutes steamlocomotive No 5, built 1894 by SLM, will reach the station of Schynige Platte (1967 m/6453 ft) (Bernese Oberland), in the background from left Eiger (13024 ft), Mönch (Monk 13474 ft) and Jungfrau (Virgin 13642 ft). The rack steamlocomotive makes very few specials every year and is still needed in springtime for opening the line after winter closure. The grade is 25 o/o, gauge 80 cm, electrified 1500 DC.
