Two 4-cylinder compounds are just crossing the Polmengo viaduct and will enter Prato spiral tunnel, which will lift the train about 50 m higher, in a few seconds. Looking out from the cab is fireman Stephan, who is doing this work together with his father Hanspeter, a well known, very experienced steam enthusiast. On the other side of the cab, not visible, Sigi is on the throttle up the 2.6 % grade. The more than 100 years old 705 is decorated like in old days, because we have exactly 125 years (and one day) after the opening of the Gotthard line.
