Remarks & Notes |
One of the most famous locations in railway history. Rainhill Station, scene of the Rainhill Trials where Stephenson's Rocket proved to be the most suitable locomotive in 1829. The Liverpool and Manchester Railway line was opened in 1830, therefore this is one of the oldest railway stations in the world. It lived up to its name on this shot as it poured down and I got soaked.
