Remarks & Notes
At Thornton Junction shed, it was what locals would describe as a "grotty" day. Steam and smoke drift about the depot from the locomotives and the adjacent steam crane. Former North British Railway 0-6-0 Class 'B' (LNER/BR Class J37) potters about in the yard. It is in woebegone condition, sporting a scorched smokebox door indicating a less than air tight fitting. Built in 1918, she has just two months life left until withdrawal in December 1966.
