| After being on display at "The Great Reunion" at the National Railway Museum, A4 no. 60009 Union Of South Africa was booked to take the steam special, "The Coronation" on to Edinburgh. Here she is in the platform about to leave for Scotland. The idea was for 60009 to come back the following day and have the second day of the reunion with the four A4s together again. Sadly, on its northbound run, "number 9" failed near Newcastle and never got to Edinburgh or join its classmates again the following day. Shame for those who'd paid $65 for the Sunday. I thought I had hard luck seeing the four locos in pouring rain - at least I saw them together! |
