Remarks & Notes
This is Skipton, self-styled 'Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales'. Beautiful clouds herald a lovely May afternoon as '8F' No.48622, still fitted with her snowplough, passes westward with coal from the West Riding. At Settle junction, she will probably take the Settle & Carlisle route though she might be heading for Carnforth via Wennington. In the distance can be seen Skipton's Christ Church.
