| The delightful Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in Cumbria runs four miles from Haverthwaite right up to the shores of Lake Windermere. They have both surviving examples of these large 2-6-4 tank locomotives designed in 1945 by Charles Fairburn of the LMS, 42085 is a BR-built example from 1951. The tea rooms at Haverthwaite Station come with a five star Armitage recommendation! |
