UP power pulling a westbound train on the IC. From a study of the track charts for the Iowa Division, Dubuque District, between Wood and Julien and from shots taken just before and after this one, I surmise that the location was near Millers crossing near Rockdale. The 703 looks like it needed a good wash. I'm no expert on EMD locos, but the 703 on the current roster, a GP38-2, is probably a replacement of the 703 here, judging by the superstructure. This was the first time I ever saw UP power on the IC--this apparently was common as the IC and UP were sharing power between North Platte and Chicago in that era.
