Remarks & Notes
Having had a two day sojourn in July out in the Museum yard, 4468 Mallard, the fastest steam locomotive in the world is back in its usual display corner in the National Railway Museum at York. During its record run in 1938, the centre big end overheated badly and damaged the bearing. An example of a centre connecting rod is displayed in front of the locomotive.
