Spot the odd man out! 25kv ac class 7E locomotive no. E7043 sports a patchy paintjob as she soaks up the winter sun at Kimberley. Most of the 7E's were in blue when I visited SA, with just a few in the brown (1st version of Spoornet livery) and Orange (second version). Sadly, none of the first 100 class 7E's wear the original, and never bettered South African Railways Maroon and Yellow livery, and now, a year and a half later, Spoornet is now Transnet Freight Rail, and a new predominantly red scheme is in place, and it's only a matter of time before the 7E's are so adorned.
Classes 7E, 9E, 11E, 14E, 15E, 19E, 20E and 21E.
7E & 11E are 25kv AC locos. 9E & 15E are 50kv AC locos and the remainder are dual-voltage (25kv AC & 3kv DC).
