Remarks & Notes
A cool fall day on New Hampshire's Mount Washington offers not only a gorgeous view of the current season, but a stark taste of the one to come....all within 2000 vertical feet. Here, the B-section of the 10 AM train tackles Cold Spring Hill at 2500 ft MSL, amid radiant fall colors. In the upper portions of the photo, you can see that the fog-shrouded terrain above tree-line at 4500 MSL is totally barren and covered with snow and ice. In fact, the Cog Railway was the only safe way to reach the summit on this day.
