Remarks & Notes

Tanfield railway was built on a waggonway which had been operating from the beginning of the 18th century. Then one horse would haul a waggon of coal to the river Tyne. Tanfield hauled many wagons at one time.Nowadays it celebrates its past with a train like this twice a year.
