| The 11:53 St Pancras - Sheffield passes Wellingborough behind 45 149. The station is a stark reminder of the decay that had set in across much of BR at the time. Cost cuttting was the order of the day, so the original ornate Midland Railway ironwork supports a roof devoid of glass while paint peels from the canopy columns and footbridge |
