ANR (formerly SAR) English Electric A1A-A1A, 907 idles in the yard at Mile End sometime in 1982. There are 8 brake vans and a variety of long-gone rollingstock visible in this photo. The goods sheds and yards have also gone replaced by a standard gauge crossing loop and sports fields. Introduced in 1951, the 128t, V16, 1120kW locos were styled on the FA/PA-1 locos. The 10 units in the class were built by the SAR at the Islington Workshops.
