| An old shot from 1984. Doncaster Works was still a busy BR facility back then. An extremely well-attended Open Day was held that July, where various visiting locos were on display, as well as all the stuff that was in the Works for overhaul and attention and even new Class 58s were in the process of being built. This Class 37 had some heavy duty cables attached to it and its engine was running. It was undergoing some kind of electrical testing and this was as close as visitors could get to it. The loco, 37 044 was first built in 1962 as D6744 and after a long life was finally withdrawn from service in 2008 as 37 710. |
