A former Santa Fe F45 takes on a new life as Great Northern 441. Filling the next number slot of GN F45s, the 441 is heading for the Izaak Walton Inn in Essex, Montana to become a locomotive cabin. The “unit” will feature sleeping quarters, bathroom, fireplace, bar and living area. The cab is intact with all the controls.
Okay, so it isn’t a real GN unit, but at least can you admire Great Northern "Big Sky Blue" paint and party in the unit too! GN 441 should be open to the public in mid-October of 2009.
GN 441 was at BNSF’s Galesburg service facility on Saturday August 22, 2009.
