| Sometimes it can be hard to visualize the steepness of a grade or changes in elevation. This is not one of those times. NS 135 is entering the Old Fort Loops as the rain comes down hard, and after one big clockwise swing around the valley the train will be passing on tracks directly behind me high up on this railroad fill. Even then, there's still a long way to go before reaching the summit at Ridgecrest. |
