It is 6:17 a.m. on December 19, 2009, and as BNSF GP50 3119 idles nearby, preparations begin for the day's two Christmas Train trips, running from San Bernardino to the Summit of Cajon Pass. The 7-car train is powered by a pair of ES44DC diesels - 7256 on the east end, and 7236 on the west end. Exterior decorations are minimal, as all the decorating is done on the inside to please the invited guests - children in need selected by local charities. These trains are an all-volunteer effort and are not publicized.
