All the colours of the rainbow...just about! On the weekend of 9th/10th January, the overhead power was shut off between Pretoria and Irene, with all trains being worked by diesels over this section. In beautiful morning light, this holiday extra from Komatipoort to Johannesburg is entering Irene behind a pair of 35-200's in Spoornet blue and orange. The train engines are two class 18E's (18-410 & 18-402) in purple Shosholoza Meyl livery, the first coach behind the locomotives is in Spoornet blue & grey, and the rest of the train is in Shosholoza Meyl livery. A rare shot and definitely worth getting up early for!
