| The temperature on this clear, sunny morning is somewhere in the single digits as a westbound grain train marches uphill out of Montello, toward the summit at Valley Pass. The grade doesn't exceed 1.3%, yet heavier trains such as this one often aren't able to make even 10mph on this stretch of track. |
