Pit Stop! As the Lerro Productions Charter takes a break, Steam Railroading Institute CMO Greg Udolph and his "pit crew" set about the task of preparing the PM 1225 for a full afternoon of double-headed run-bys with NKP 765. Water and coal supplies are replenished, lubricant resevoirs are topped off, the fire is being cleaned and a number of small issues that were noticed during the morning operations are being addressed. Behind them, the folks from the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society are doing the same with their locomotive. Shortly, the two Berks will head back over to the Great Lakes Central yard, couple up to their 31-car freight and start the trek north toward Elsie, where the action will resume in earnest.
Images from two Lerro Productions events, 10 years apart: 2009 and 2019. The 2009 featured a 31-car freight and NKP 765. The 2019 trip showcased just the 1225 with the Steam Railroading Institute's passenger consist.
