Chicago Short Line EMD SW1500 31 and EMD SW1001 29 are close to finishing their run from LTV Steel Corporation's Indiana Harbor Works and 98th Street Yard, which they are entering after running westward over trackage rights on the Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal and Conrail (former Pennsylvania) main lines along Lake Michigan. This yard was the headquarters for the CSL and was close to the site of Youngstown Sheet & Tube Corporation's Iroquois Iron Works, which was located at the mouth of the Calumet River, where it enters Lake Michigan. I had followed this train all the way from Indiana Harbor to 98th Street, not easy to do, considering the heavy traffic and the Illinois-Indiana state line, located less than a mile away.
