Remarks & Notes
The old jointed rail is move off the ties as a fleet of MOW equipment removes ballast from between the ties, surface the ties, fill spike holes, reposition tie plates, position the new welded rail, and secure it in place. The ballast has been removed, tie surfacing, and spike hole plugging has already been done in this shot. The new welded rail is the rusty rail as it has sat out along the tracks for the last few months and has been positioned to be installed. Very cool operation to watch.
