The former B&O Charleston to Gilmer line, which changed owners numerous times before eventually being owned by Conrail now sits abandoned in the woods of central West Virginia, slowly being reclaimed by mother nature, although perhaps not for much longer. A newly developed shortline, referred to as the Charleston, Blue Creek, & Sanderson Railway in cooperation with Norfolk Southern have intentions of reopening this very line, along with the former Conrail/Penn Central/New York Central line from Blue Creek to Sanderson, WV. While no visual changes have been documented, I presume progress will start soon.
