Remarks & Notes
Two class 218 locos has left the Hindenburgdamm behind and will arrive at Westerland(Sylt) in about 10 minutes. The 11 kilometre long Hindenburgdamm is a causeway joining the North Frisian island of Sylt to mainland Schleswig-Holstein. It was opened on 1 June 1927 and is exclusively a railway corridor. A train trip along the causeway takes about 10 minutes. The causeway is part of the railway line Marschbahn("Marsh Railway"). It connects Hamburg with Westerland(Sylt). The line is dayly used by some Inter City trains from Frankfurt and Berlin, regional trains from Hamburg and car transportation trains from Niebuell. The Morsum Kliff is a well known photoposition by german railfans. In the summer season there is also one steam train from southern germany to Westerland. Westerland is one of the northernmost stations in Germany
