Remarks & Notes
Still awaiting disposition: RDG #1187 is one of the few Camelback locomotives left in existence. This Baldwin 0-4-0 was built in March of 1903 and served for many years with the Reading Company. In 1962, she was acquired by the Strasburg Railroad and ran until 1967. Too light to pull their heavy tourist trains, the SRR loaned her to the RR Museum of PA where she spent several decades outside deteriorating as a static display. This photo depicts her in 2010 as she stands at the SRC with an eye toward a possible future restoration. She has undergone some preliminary evaluations and disassembly, but the railroad has been quite busy with other on-going restorations, both in house and third party. Restoration efforts likely remain years away.
