Remarks & Notes |
A leased Santa Fe 5000-series locomotive is readied for service at the PRR facility in Columbus. The oil tank cars on the right were brought in for fueling these oil-burners, PRR used coal exclusively. Two weeks previous to taking this photo John stopped by the facility with hopes for shooting hot ATSF steamers but the engines were cold. Thanks to a friendly roundhouse foreman who tipped him off to come back about two weeks later, he was able to bag several shots of the 5034 being fired up on this date. Photo taken on Kodachrome 10 with a Konica IIA, F2.0 45mm lens. More Columbus scenes are available at GodfatherRails.com> |
