Union Pacific subsidiary Los Angeles & Salt Lake Consolidation #6051 is a hog! The LA&SL Consolidations were called hogs due to the huge amount of fuel that they consumed. Hence the men who ran them were known as hoggers. A name that kind of stuck... huh? The C2s, like this one, were also called the "Pedro 6000"s as they were ubiquitous on the line from Los Angeles to East San Pedro. They were built by Baldwin. |
