MLVs are used extensively across the UK rail network for a variety of jobs, such as clearing railhead contamination. Here a pair of MLV vehicles are seen climbing the Lickey incline, but with only DR 98909 at the rear providing any traction. Just 10 metres after passing the photographer, this sole engine gave uo through possible overheating and the train blocked the line for 35 minutes. Amusingly it stopped right by a bridge graffittied, possibly by a rail enthusiast, with the words "Only half way to go, are you gonna make it?" That's a resounding "No" then
