Remarks & Notes
Ex-Amtrak on the ex-CNJ!
A former Amtrak P40DC locomotive roars through the valleys of rural Hunterdon County with a six car train bound for High Bridge. The train is seen here on the former Jersey Central main line through Clinton. Purchased by NJ Transit for weekend express service between New York and Atlantic City, the P40s can be seen taking the occasional joyride during the week. The P40s were previously restricted from running with NJT's Multi-level coaches due to clearance issues on the rear of the locomotive. The restriction was lifted after the small fleet of P40s were specially modified for use with the Multi-levels.
