How many of us remember that Amtrak operated F7s into the 90s? Not their own, of course. But Amtrak was (and is) the operator for Shore Line East, the Connecticut DOT New Haven - Old Saybrook - New London commuter route running on Amtrak's rails. Here train 3638, having pushed east from New Haven, has cleared the station on track 2, and will pull west onto track 1 for the deadhead move back to New Haven once Amtrak 177 (left) moves through. The 6690 was bought from the PATrain (Pittsburgh) operation, with several other railroads in its history. The extremely shallow depth of field is a product of the 500mm mirror lens I had at the time.
