Way back on December 21, 1955 a visit to Illinois Central's Markham yard included the engine terminal where we found a good number of live steam locomotives. Unfortunately, the dead line was also long and included this 4-6-2 sitting by her self. I've always liked their pacifics and this one was no exception. She has been rebuilt (IC corrugated steel pilot) but she retained her original sand dome to the end. The huge structure behind ICRR 1169 is the concrete coaling tower. It spanned six tracks and I'm sure it could accomodate six locomotives simultaneously. It was an imposing structure.
