The General Mitre Railroad introduced the handling of containers in passenger trains after a series of trial runs to ascertain the riding behaviour of skeleton cars added to passenger consists and run at passenger-train speeds. The second trial run was this one, train Number 1017 from Buenos Aires' Retiro Station to Rosario and Córdoba, when three container cars, this time loaded with empty containers, were added to the head end with Official Coach S.O.605 ahead of the usual baggage and coach stock. The first trial run, done the previous day with fully-loaded containers in the same cars, and this one yielded relevant field information which allowed the General Mitre RR's Management make the decision to begin hauling containers in these trains in a daily basis while keeping passenger schedules and speeds.
