| Christmas vacation from high school in 1955 included a visit to Illinois Central's Markham yard on Chicago's south side. We headed for the engine terminal where we found a good number of live steam locomotives. ICRR 4-8-2 2514 was at the ash pit waiting to be put away in the roundhouse after being coaled, watered and having her fire cleaned. |
