| A trip deep into the heart of China. Sanjiazi is at the end of a branch line from Nanpiao. This was the last day of steam working the line. The weather was suitably grey and misty and it had all the sense of travelling back in time. The bright blue jacket and face mask of one of the passengers brings the shot into the modern world. In the background an ailing SY class that has just arrived with the morning passenger train shuts coal wagons in the interval before her final passenger train departure. This is not the world of shiny charter trains and persevered railways this is one the final scenes of World Steam. |
