NS 729, a loaded coal drag, creeps through the ex-Interstate Railroad's Norton Yard as it negotiates the steepest grade on the ex-IRR's main line, the track between Dorchester Junction and the crest of the hill at the east end of Norton Yard immediately ahead. Due to frequent backup moves on the mine runs, cabooses are still utilized on some crews.
