Remarks & Notes
Snow Comes to Cajon - A BNSF pig train climbs the Cajon Pass and rounds the bend at Summit on it's way to Barstow California from the Los Angeles Basin. While we have had numerous storm systems blow though the southland since the end of October, the one on the 3rd was the first that was cold enough to deposit snow below the 3000 foot level at Cajon Station. Here, the elevation is about 3600 feet and there was 3-4 inches of the white stuff all around. Last year was a great year for snow at elevations above 6500 feet, but the pass remained bare, and I believe the last time I saw this much snow at Summit was at least two years ago in December.
