Elsdon Yard, on Chicago's southwest side, had a roundhouse and service facilities for Grand Trunk Western steam power until the end of the steam era. We visited the yard and found a good number of live locomotives at the roundhouse and working the yard. GTW 3735, a good looking Class S-3-a Mikado, leaves Elsdon Yard with a freight headed south.
