Remarks & Notes
An Alaska Railroad coal train rolls through the tiny berg of Indian along Turnagain Arm. The rails and highway both follow the contours of the shoreline and one can look across the bay and see the three unit set of swing DPUs and further across the Arm and see the mountains rising from the waters edge of the Kenai Peninsula. One of the things that make the Alaska mountains so impressive in my opinion is the fact that the rise from sea level as opposed to Colorado where they often start at 6,000' or higher. It is barely 1 PM and the sun is low in the southwestern sky.
