The long-awaited M8 railcars have entered limited service between New Haven, Stamford and GCT; this set is seen at Port Chester with a Stamford train during the second week of revenue service. Connecticut plans to purchase 380 M8s, allowing replacement of early 1970s-era M2s. This has been a tough season for ConnDOT, and the New Haven Line operated at reduced service levels for a period this winter due to the number of older cars out of service on account of the weather. The new M8s are a welcome addition, and so far they've received high marks from riders.
