Remarks & Notes
The eastbound W&W "Sandman" was easing around the curve at Indian Hollow, VA on April 21, 1980, looking out for cattle and automobiles. The first few years after Unicil (now Unimin) bought the W&W weren't pretty, busy, but not pretty. The entire railroad was relaid with heavier relay rail, thousands of ties were replaced, and tons of ballast dumped. Motive power took a back seat, cosmetically at least. Former N&W RS-11 has had the N&W markings painted out and a small W&W added to the cab. Former SP S-6 No. 80 looked a bit better, but still didn't have any W&W markings. As time progressed, things got better.
