Remarks & Notes
A4 Pacific 'Sir Nigel Gresley' (named after its designer) a mile or two north of the English border, skirting the North Sea coastline, bound for Edinburgh with the first day of the marathon 'Great Britain 4' tour. 'Sir Nigel' would have pounded this route many times when A4s ruled the East Coast Main Line. Deltic diesels, HST diesels and now class 91 electrics have subsequently taken over Anglo-Scottish expresses on this route.
