Remarks & Notes
Rio Grande's 'Salina Local' slows to make a pickup in the D&RGW yard at Provo. The ultra short train began its mid day journey at Roper in South Salt Lake. After a sizable pickup at Provo, the local will travel 20 additional miles on the mainline east to Thistle where it will exit Subdivision 6 for the 86 mile journey down the Marysvale Branch to Salina, Utah. Caboose 01418 is clad in its 1950's four stripe Aspen Gold and silver 'Mainline Thru The Rockies" livery. Within weeks it would be repainted in the 'Action Road' scheme at Burnham shop in Denver. Today the 01418 survives on former D&RGW rails, awaiting restoration at Heber City, Utah.
