Beauty and the Beast? Two passenger locomotives, now out of work and on display at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento on March 7, 2003. Both were built by Electro-Motive Division; Santa Fe F7 No. 347C built in 1949 and Amtrak F40PH No. 281 built in 1978, face off on a nice sunny day. Compare a 1949 Chevy to a 1978 Impala and you’ll see amazingly similar styling traits in their respective era. Almost everyone will have a preference on which is there favorite, but you have to admit, both served their carriers well.
