In a part of Columbia that in 1980 was blanketed with every kind of rail line from mains to one-customer spurs, a GP38-2 works on a bright winter morning. Most mains are still here today, but non-rail development, especially growth of the University of SC campus, has replaced many of the spurs and other switching tracks.
