Trying to photograph a train on the Portage Bridge from the waterfalls side is a lesson in patience. There is only about a 3 hour window of good morning lighting, and that is only during the longest days of summer. Unfortunately, that is the time of day when it is very hard to catch any train activity thru the area. I had spent 3 hours the previous Saturday morning waiting patiently until about 10:30am and left without seeing a train. Spent another 3 hours waiting on Saturday 6/23, and was rewarded with train 309 shortly after arriving at the park. Score: 1 train for six hours of waiting on 2 weekends.
